What’s on your playlist?

We all have a playlist, whether it’s a favorite record or album from the past or an old 8-track tape or cassette player. Of course, today in our modern sophistication, we have playlists on our cell phones that are with us all the time. Our playlist can often reveal a lot about who a person is and what they like.

Did you know God had a playlist for Christmas? There are multiple songs and poems that are recorded in the narratives of the Christmas story in the New Testament. Whether it is Zachariah’s poem or Mary’s song or the song of the Angels announcing the birth of Jesus, the music of Christmas reveals the heart of God about his plan for redeeming mankind through Emmanuel.

Emmanuel - means God with us. And that is exactly what Jesus coming at Christmas does mean. It means that God has written himself into our story the story of human history. Every one of us has a story, but our story takes on eternal significance when we repent our sins and place our faith in Jesus Christ and our story is written into his eternal Story.

As we continue our March through Advent this Sunday, we will have an opportunity to hear the sounds of Christmas. I hope you will plan on being in attendance and participating with a high-level of engagement on Sunday. Of course, we recognize also that this is the final Christmas performance that Pastor Mark will lead McDonough Road Baptist Church in. I hope you will make a special effort to be present, as well as a special effort in your worship as Pastor Mark leads us.

We of course, are eternally grateful to Pastor Mark for his ministry. He has loved each of us deeply and ministered to all of us personally. His kindness, and his focus upon the gospel, and of course, his constant phrase, reminding each one of us that he loves us is another great lesson for us as we celebrate this Christmas season.

I look forward to worshiping with you this coming Sunday morning.

His and yours,

Pastor Rob
